This was the best spot for our family when we went to puerto for our trip! It was very peaceful and private since the area is in a quieter zone. The walk is pretty steep but it’s definitely worth it being inside the villa amistad. It's nothing like we'd ever seen or stayed at before, it's very unique and captivating. Fuimos a festejar mi despedida de soltera a Puerto Vallarta, y yo jamás había ido. Mark fue un excelente anfitrión, nos trató increíblemente bien a las chicas y a mi, fue respetuoso y es muy alegre. Llegamos a tener un problema de baterías con la puerta y fue solucionado de manera inmediata, quedamos todas en volver, amamos la hospitalidad con la que te recibe. De donde somos (baja california) el calor es seco, y en Puerto Vallarta es demasiado húmedo, el acceso a la casa es subida y casi nos desmayábamos llegando 😂, si recomiendo ampliamente tener esto en cuenta, las personas locales nos recomiendan volver en noviembre-abril como meses mejores para conocer. I would like to keep this place to myself it’s that quaint and cleanliness top level and the area is perfect. The walk is nothing to worry about. This place is Puerto Vallarta ambience to a T.. they have implemented so many details that’ make all the difference and set themselves apart from all the other Airbnbs in the area. The honor bar gets a mention on its own because it’s so convenient but there is a store right around the corner too. The birria place a short walk away was delicious. This was our first time at Villa Amistad and our experience was excellent: beautiful property in an authentic, convenient neighborhood, all the comforts including a well equipped kitchen, filtered water (an ice maker… quite the luxury in MX), superb beds, spotless apartments , and extremely comfortable. The neighborhood is a gem, close to all the fun of Vallarta, but peaceful, lush, and great views. For us, the best: the on-site team. Mark, Luis and Miguel were all delightful, fun, and very helpful. We will be back and give Villa Amistad an unqualified 5 star review. You won’t be disappointed!!!!

We had the a Fantastic experience at Mark’s beautiful, cozy penthouse. From the very beginning to the end of our stay, Mark was right there to help us out. Mark greeted us upon our arrival. We felt like special guests. Mark was informative with restaurants and attractions info. The home was very clean, tidy…picture perfect ! The beds and bedding so comfy, kitchen fully equipped, bathrooms very very clean and in great working order. There was not one thing that we needed (other than food) that had not been thoughtfully provided and equipped ! The pool was a delight … refreshing with a magnificent view. The view, the view, the view *!!* incredible !! Great location !! Easy to catch a taxi or Uber at the bottom of the street. Can’t wait to go back !! Yes, there are stairs like Mark mentions in his Airbnb description, but we had no problem negotiating them. We felt safe and secure in the neighborhood and Mark’s Airbnb. Mark and his crew are The Very Best hosts!!

Lovely apartment with artistic interior and uptodate ac, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. Outdoor common area has sitting areas, dining table, rooftop pool, and fantastic view. We were able to drop bags early and host met us at the door with cool wet towels for our faces and hands. Blazing hot and humid outside and it’s a walk uphill. Just a few blocks from a not overly busy boardwalk (a posh and pricey oyster bar, we had the ceviche). Maybe 2 cafes and a small restaurant within 1-2 min walk but not open during our short visit. We liked the corner bar, Axno for tacos and guacamole. Could have stayed a week or more here. Lovely place.

The Airbnb itself was beautiful, comfortable, and highly functional, with an ideal central location just a short walk to the beach and downtown. The area felt very safe, even late at night. Checking in was super easy, Mark was there to help us get everything in order and show us the place. Both Mark and John were very responsive in our requests and handling everything promptly. The place itself was gorgeous with a beautiful view of the ocean. Having access to a private pool added to the luxury of the villa. Will definitely look to reserving again the next time I visit PV. The only disclaimer I would mention, is that the location is up on a hill and getting to there by foot can be an uphill battle (excuse my pun) when its hot and muggy or you've had a little too much to drink, but Ubers are relatively cheap so it was overall a good experience.

This trip was AMAZING! From the very beginning Mark was attentive and there for you. He greeted us at the door and gave us a tour of the place. We stayed at Villa Amistad for two nights for my mom's 90th birthday. The place was impeccably clean, quiet, had all the amenities, great shower and comfortable bed. Mark and his team were a delight who went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed, including several small but significant extras for my mom. We all slept so well and enjoyed time on the terrance looking at the sunset and all the beautiful views. That said, I would probably not stay here again. (But many of course would - and should) It is on a very steep street- we had three Ubers cancel on us because they did not want to go up the street. There is no place to unload the car safely (remember, I'm with my 90 year old parents) and it is really tricky to turn around on the street. There are many stairs up - I think my dad counted 60 - and they are a combination of metal slatted steep steps, and concrete steps with no rails. We totally made it work, and again, Mark and his team were fantastic.

We arrived and the next day met with a beautiful city in crisis . Everyone had to shelter in place. I can’t think of a better place to spend 30 hours. It was a retreat and we did not go hungry. Mark and his partner are friendly and gracious, they provided all guests with a communal hamburger BBQ dinner, even grilled cauliflower for the vegan among us . It was a large round table, sharing stories of experiences large and small, during this time of external conflict. Perch in this well designed loft with a great deck we could vicariously participate in the larger neighborhood, as we also enjoyed our own solitude. The cobbled street were clean and walkable. Mark showed us a trail he takes to Zona Romantica and the beach. Lots of steps up and down, a swinging bridge. The walks were adventures in themselves. Being lost but really not lost, as we felt safe and protected everywhere. Ocean swimming was great, as was river swimming at the mysterious beautiful Botanical Gardens. Blessing

We loved our stay at the Villa! It was very close to the Malecón with many stores and restaurants around it. If you’re into the nightlife as well, it was about a 10 minute walk to Mandala and Rakata. The entire place was beautiful! It has everything you could possible think of needing and the views were amazing, nothing like sitting at the balcony and just enjoying the breeze. The heated pool was amazing as well, super relaxing and cozy, we loved all the plants surrounding the place. The view is lovely with a beautiful surrounding garden. The unit itself is very spacious which would accommodate 4 adults easily. The kitchen is very well equipped and the offer delicious coffee. This unit does share a wall with another unit so you may hear noise from next door and vice versa. We loved the neighbourhood and found it so convenient. It is just a couple blocks away from the Malecon, beach and many restaurants. Loved it all!

Me and two of my friends traveled from North Carolina and stayed a week at marks place. The place is super clean very spacious and probably the best view in all of Puerto Vallarta. You’re very close to the Malecón, walking distance to great food as well as shopping and the electrifying nightlife. Mark is there to assist you every step of the way. Staying here was the best decision. Villa Armistad was gorgeous. Super clean with wonderful staff. Great pool with warm water. Nice room with a little kitchenette and a comfortable bed. But most of all was the spectacular view of sunsets. Villa Armistad was comfortable, clean and felt like a little pocket of escape from life. Mark was super responsive and easy to chat with and has an incredibly comprehensive guide book. The location is fantastic and is super close to some great places to eat, and is a short walk from lots of wonderful places to go see, just know it's on the top of a pretty steep hill (which is how it has such spectacular views) so getting up might be difficult for some, but Ubers are easy to get a hold of and decently priced which helps with getting around.

What a great stay. Very professional experience. They think of all the conveniences you could ever think of including an online guidebook with rules, suggestions, and local recommendations. The location, the price, the hosts, the amenities, the place, the view, etc. I used to live in Vallarta so I know exactly where the good spots are, and when I say this place is in the most perfect location I mean it! it's right in downtown surrounded by lots of things to do everywhere. It's also in a super safe location. The place itself was gorgeous. It was cheap. I personally even felt like I was not paying enough for our stay. It's perfect for big groups or couples alike. Mark and his team are super nice, helpful and communicative. The pool as well as the whole property have a great view. Just make sure you read the instructions about the washer and dryer 😅 they're only open at certain hours throughout the day😅. My friends and I already decided that we are staying here next time we come back. Oh! also, there's a lady who sells gorditas by request just a few doors down the property (she has a sign outside her house) and they're delicious and big.

We stayed in Curiel's Retreat with our family of 4, 2 parents and 2 adult children for a week in early May. I would highly recommend Villa Amistad. It was quiet and had more of a local feel. We enjoyed hanging out on the deck in the morning and in the evening. We also spent a bunch of time in the pool in between activities. Miguel met us upon arrival and walked us through all the details that we need to be comfortable. The place is as described and worked well for us. As noted it is up a hill, after walking from the beach and from Zona Romantica the first couple nights, we grabbed Ubers to the base of the drive up to the Villa which worked out great. Mark's guide is terrific. We went to a number of restaurants on the list. I would say most are really good. We did not like No Se Nada quite so much, of other neighborhood restaurants we visited (5-10 min walk from the Villa) Casa Mar and Barcelona Tapas were our favorite. The Villa is a great base! Great communication. Will go back.

Very comfy beds, drinkable water from the tap, good water pressure in the showers, loved the pool, and it was the perfect location being close to everything! Please note: lots of stairs and if you haven't been to PV before, lots of cobblestone roads with steep hills. We enjoyed the exercise ourselves but for those that may have trouble.

Mark’s place was amazing. Beautiful view, access to the pool right down the steps, open common space with lots of natural light, but bedrooms without windows so nice and dark for sleep (important for us!). It was not huge, but had everything we needed. The hosts were very gracious and responsive: both to questions and to any minor issues that came up. The location was perfect for us: 10min walk to the Malecón, but far enough to not hear the nose when we were ready for sleep. The hill was no big deal (unless you have mobility issues, use a cane etc). Our 3yo did it multiple times a day with no problem. Will definitely be going back!

Miguel’s Mirador at Villa Amistad was beautiful. The room was a great size and has an amazing view of the bay. Although there is not a kitchen, they provide a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker (and delicious coffee) and some dishes and utensils. We didn’t need to cook as Mark provides a wonderful guidebook with many recommendations for restaurants and we tried several and gave no complaints about any of them. Mark and the staff are extremely responsive to messages. We had a great time. We have special thanks to Miguel who was there to welcome us on our first day and provide us with a short orientation and cool cloth to help us cool off after the walk up the hill. Miguel was super friendly and cheerful. There is a lot of walking (or you can Uber or taxi), but we were up for the task and enjoyed our daily hikes down and up the hills. We had such a great stay at Mark's place. Prior to arriving, we received a guidebook which contained everything you could possibly want to know about Puerto Vallarta. I have stayed at a lot of Airbnbs and this was the most in depth information I have ever received. The apartment itself was brilliant. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. Place is situated in a nice location away from the direct hustle of the downtown Malecon. If the only interruption to your peace is the rooster that sounds off in the morning, which can be fixed by earplugs they provide, then you should love it. Which is one of the remedies Mark comes up with. The honour bar , where the prices are hardly more than the OXXO. And provides you a drink at your beckon. Everything is top notch, including the host. Because it is slightly off the beaten, and on the hill. Guests should be aware of this for their luggage needs if they aren’t familiar with this part of PV. Because of this it’s in such a prime location with amenities and proximity to the prime spots of the Malecon but all the tranquility.

I had a great time! First of all, Mark was a great host, attentive and caring, since the days leading to me checking in. Greeted me at the door, helped with the luggage, walked us into the property and showed us around. The property is beautiful, well maintained, the pool was pristine, all amenities included from Shampoo and conditioner to coffee and working microwave and full size fridge. The bed was very comfy and the pillows and linen were soft and fresh. So we're the towels. Shower had hot water and lost of pressure. The view from our varanda was amazing. Is within walking distance from the Malecon but is uphill, as is all in this zone of PV, so be aware of your fitness level. Taxis and app services are available. Mark also recommended eating places and the best transportation to move around and even though I drove, I took the advice and left my car parked and followed his advice. I stayed in Jonathan's Lugar solo for 1 night, and immediately wished I had more time there! The space itself was beautiful, private, and perfectly situated, steps away from the Malecon. It's pretty steeply uphill, but I found many places in Puerto Vallarta are like that, and they're worth it for the gorgeous views of the neighborhood and ocean. Mark and his team were terrific hosts, I used many of their food and travel recommendations - I found their instructions from the airport to the airbnb particularly helpful. Highly recommend!

It overlooks the bay and we saw the whales on a couple of days. We were able to take a dip in the heated pool one day and it was delightful. Inside was very cozy and a great place to hang. The king beds were very comfortable and linens were perfect for our comfort. The kitchen had anything we could have possibly needed IF we cooked, but we didn’t . The villa was centrally located to small stores, coffee and restaurants. That was especially nice. Anything further than the neighborhood , we grabbed an Uber. Mark and his staff were so attentive to anything we needed. Hospitality is certainly his gift to share with those who stay in the villa. He is so nice and helpful. Casa Amistad was a perfect spot to call home in puerto Vallarta. Very centrally located, it’s a short (but steep) walk to La zona romántica, el centro, la malecón, and la Mirador. The view is excellent and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The saltwater pool was the perfect way to refresh after the hot hike up the hill from town. I will definitely stay here again. One thing to note- there are a lot of stairs. Don’t stay here if you have mobility issues, but otherwise it’s a paradise. Also the virtual Guidebook has a lot of great recommendations in it. The drinkable water is a huge plus.

We rented the penthouse and had neighbors below. This place was almost too good to be true! Absolutely immaculate. Every room had a comfortable queen bed, a private restroom with shower, and individual a/c that was easy to operate. The views were amazing. The pool was clean. The hosts at checkin were so nice, informative, and helped with our luggage. They made sure our stay was top notch. I felt like I was at a 5 star resort. The only thing I would keep in mind is that there’s a lot of stairs starting from the street. This was not a problem for us but if you have issues walking, it’s good to be prepared. This is the most accommodating place I’ve stayed in and I’m looking forward to renting again on my next visit.

La atención por parte del anfitrió y personal es excelente y flexibles a tus necesidades, así como el sistema de acceso al lugar es muy cómodo y seguro para los huéspedes. Lo único negativo que podría comentar es que la calle de acceso al lugar es algo complicada para accesar con maletas u otras cosas ya que por el tramo empedrado, la mayoría de los transportes no te acercan a la puerta de entrada. La ventaja es que solo es un tramo de alrededor de 50mts, que al menos para nosotros no fue mucho problema, pero si es un tema a considerar en caso de que te sea complicado caminar o cargar cosas pesadas.

I can’t recommend enough Villa Amistad. We had the luck of staying here for a family member’s 40th birthday and rented out the entire villa (12 of us in total). This place is amazing! Spacious, beautifully decorated and overall one of the best AirBNBs we’ve experienced. Casa Amistad was one of my favorite stay with Airbnb. The place was beautiful, clean, and cozy. I got excellent sleep during my stay--the beds were super comfortable and the bedroom was absolutely silent--and the water pressure was great and never ran cold! The pool and common areas were great and easy to use, and the little porch out front was great for a morning coffee or to watch the sunset. Location-wise, it was perfect. There were great restaurants nearby and it was easy to get around the whole town. The neighborhood was beautiful and the view from the pool was great as well. It's an easy walk downhill to the boardwalk and the beach was close as well. Finally, Mark was very helpful and communicative when our bus kept being delayed, and was there to help us get settled when we arrived. The place was wonderful and the multiple hosts were friendly and so quick to respond. we took the entire bottom floor, one was like a small studio and the other had two bedrooms. Each room had their own bathroom, all well decorated and filled with any amenities you might need. There are stairs to get up to the place, so just make sure there's not mobility issues. Absolutely stunning property kept in immaculate condition. We only booked one night here while traveling through PV and am glad this was the spot we chose. Mark was very communicative and flexible with check-in/check-out. The bed was super comfy and the shower was one of the best I've ever had (unexpected in Mexico!) A+ water pressure, hot water, and a huge shower head -- truly luxurious. Strong wifi/tech-friendly. The villa itself sits on top of a hill with a narrow cobblestone dirt road leading up to it which can be a challenge. Luckily, with the super helpful digital guide created for guests, we were able to inform our drivers of all of the needed information for pickup/drop-off ahead of time. Expect lots of stairs and a hike up the hill but the views and surroundings were worth it. Most of all, I got unexpectedly ill during my stay and Mark was nothing but hospitable, helpful, and empathetic in every way possible. Not sure what I would've done without his help. Thank you!

This is a really nice, clean, well-appointed place--probably one of the nicest places I've stayed in Mexico in terms of meeting the standards that most US and Canadian folks expect. You'll get your steps in getting up there, but it's actually very centrally located. There are some great small places to eat and get coffee close by and it's just a short drop down to the Malecon or the Zona Romantica, but the hill keeps the crowds away and the view from the "porch" is magical. Mark and his crew are super helpful and responsive, the access system is very modern, secure and easy to use. And if you're a little warm after your climb up the hill you just roll into the gorgeous, clean pool and enjoy the magical view. We would absolutely return for a longer visit!

The sliding door patio system was amazing. It was open wide when we were there, and no irritating bugs! There are beautiful potted plants on the patio. The guidebook is truly incredible. All lot of work went into its preparation and it was valuable, especially for first timers. It is located in a nice neighbourhood, up a hill. Some huffing and puffing from our group of 60+ years was heard! (Don't worry as it is easy to get a cab up if you prefer.) We have no negative comments about this property. It is lovely and would certainly rebook without hesitation.

Villa Amistad was incredible and just what we were looking for. It’s a little away from the main busyness romantic zone, which made for quieter evenings and some fun walks through the surrounding neighborhood. Loved the grocery shops and cafe all less than a block away. From the beach, going up the hill to the villa wasn’t bad at all. If we were tired, a taxi ride from the romantic zone was only $100MX. The whole Villa Amistad team was friendly, professional, and always helpful. One of our favorite things was just sitting amongst the plants on the shared patio and looking out at the views of the surrounding rooftops and ocean in the distance. The room was a good size with working AC, comfy chairs, a perfect bed, and well-stocked with tasty coffee and two beers. Some of the entry stairs are a tad steep/narrow but easy enough and so charming. As suggested, we drank the tap water from Villa Amistad and felt totally fine—those 5 filters did the trick. Next time, we’ll stay for longer!

Our stay at Villa Amistad exceeded our expectations! When you enter the space, you will be amazed that it is even nicer than the photos. A few highlights: the space is SPOTLESS. You can really tell how much care goes into cleaning the places between guests. Another highlight were the beds. I don't think I have ever slept in a more comfortable bed! It felt like sleeping on a cloud. Couches/chairs were comfy. Thirdly, the showers were hot, great pressure, and I love that the knobs were out of the way. Genius! One of my favourite things about the space was having the big glass doors open during the day and evening. It makes you feel like you are inside and outside at the same time. Looking out at the incredible view of the ocean never got old. It was peaceful and relaxing. The pool is the perfect temperature, and such a nice treat! It was a bit tricky to park, get our luggage up to the building, and yes there are steep hills. Somethings to keep in mind, but I still highly recommend.

I could list so many reasons why to stay here that I'd max out the character limit. It's way easier to give the reasons why one may want to avoid Villa Amistad: 1) you're not able bodied (it's straight up a cobblestone "hill" and there's also multiple stairs required to enter the villa and the rooms), or 2) you're looking for a rural setting and henceforth not PV, or 3) you want to stay in the heart of the party zone and don't plan on sleeping. Otherwise, book it. You will not regret it!

The amenities were great and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The listing mentions that the villa is “hillside”, and those hills are steep! Pack shoes accordingly and be prepared to work the glutes! Mark and the guys were very friendly & gave us a great lay of the land. We highly recommend making use of their excellent guidebook! The one thing we will say, is that while very friendly, at times it did feel a little like micro-managing our behavior. E.g.: reminding us at 6pm that our level of volume would not be appropriate for 10pm, and also asking on multiple occasions for us to answer for other guests behavior/loudness/use of the honor bar (we are 30ish ladies, watching guilty pleasure tv by 10 - spoiler it wasn't us lol). That aside, we had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Thank you!

Located in downtown PV within easy walking distance to the Malecon and Romantic zone and at the same time far enough from the busy, noisy areas, so as to be relatively peaceful. It's located up a hill so you get a bit of a workout. The studio apartment was super clean and comfortable. Great comfy bed and a nice shower. He provided an outstanding app with very clear instructions and excellent tourist recommendations. The check-in was super easy. The shared pool area was nice as well. He was also very helpful and responsive. The only reason we didn't give it five stars was that the people staying in the apartment next door (his property has 3 apartments) were very noisy, talking late into the night and you could hear everything through a connecting door. There is another rental property across the street and the people staying there were very noisy all through the night as well. But overall we had a great experience staying there and would recommend it.
